Types of Homophobia

Type G- (Gender) The Gender Homophobe's stance is based on believing in an unnatural, simplistic, narrow, binary gender paradigm. This paradigm shapes their identity and sense of pride, power in the world. They believe anatomy determines psyche, purpose and personality and all men are supposed to be one way, want the same thing; have the same range of expression and all women too.

Type (Religious) The Religious Homophobe is a subset of the Gender Homophobe. They just believe the aforementioned rigid and narrow molds are God-ordained. They see LGBT people the same way those in mediaeval times saw left-handers- a manifestation of a generational curse called sin and/or being possessed by the Devil. 

Type I    (Ignorance) The Ignorant Homophobe relies entirely on preconceived notions/stereotypes and propaganda about LGBT people until they meet someone who breaks all their presumptions, usually a family member, colleague or personal hero they already love and respect. This may or may not change their mind about LGBT people in general.

             Type M- (Misogynist) The Misogynistic Homophobe is another Type G subset.  The Misogynistic Homophobe objectifies every sexually viable woman he meets, undresses them; treats them like pieces of meat. He loves lesbians and finds them titillating, as long as he can entertain the idea of it being done all for his gratification.  Sex is entirely about using a woman for his enjoyment. He does not respect women after he’s slept with them. Therefore, he simply cannot respect any man whom he sees taking the degrading position of “the woman” because for him, being a woman is being a “lower” being, an object to be used. The mere idea of a man ogling him and thinking about him sexually the way he thinks about women makes him violently mad for this reason.

Type P- (Personal Experience) The Personal Experience Homophobe’s stance is based on a bad personal experience with an LGBT person/s. This makes them paint all LGBT people with that brush. 

Type S1- (Sexual Insecurity) The Sexually Insecure Homophobe, has sexuality/sex appeal issues/insecurities. They might be LGBT themselves and in the closet.  Often this type of homophobe is wallowing in so much self-denial and shame that they can be particularly violent and dangerous.

Type S2- (Sociopathic) The Sociopathic Homophobe, knows homophobia is a false fear and may even be LGBT himself/herself, but has no problem cynically going after the money and manipulative power to be had by exploiting the fears, insecurities, sexism and ignorance of others. In the movie Children Of God, the virulently anti-gay (secretly closeted) pastor says, “Sometimes you need to give people something to hate.”
